Mohamad Hamas Elmasry is a professor in the Media Studies program at the Institute of Graduate Studies in Doha. His research on Arab media systems, race, Arab media, news coverage of media and terrorism, and portrayals of Muslims in the West has appeared in peer-reviewed publications such as Journalism, Journalism Practice, Journalism Studies, International Communication Gazette, and the International Journal of Communication. Dr. Elmasry has been an invited speaker at venues including Georgetown University's Al-Waleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, DePaul University, University of Toronto, University of Illinois-Chicago, University of Denver, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Carter Center, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the World Social Forum.
