Editor, Bangladesh's 'Amar Desh'

Dr. Mahmudur Rahman is a prominent figure in Bangladeshi politics with notable achievements in various fields. He is one of the owners and deputy editor of the Bengali daily newspaper Amar Desh. Beyond journalism, Rahman has a background in engineering and business, which led him to serve as the chief executive of the National Investment Board in the early 2000s and later as Bangladesh’s national energy advisor. Since 2008, he has been a vocal critic of the government through his newspaper, which has led to numerous libel and sedition cases being filed against him, which international human rights groups have described as judicial harassment. Rahman is the author of several books in Bangladesh and English, the latest of which is “A Political History of Muslim Bengal: The Unfinished Battle of Faith.”
