Dr. Shadee Elmasry was born and raised in New Jersey. She completed her PhD in Islamic Studies at the University of London in 2007 and also studied sharia, including Maliki jurisprudence, with various scholars in the traditional manner. She currently teaches at the Islamic Center of New Brunswick and chairs the Safina Society.
